How to Disable the Automatic Installation of Security Updates When Adding a Veeam Infrastructure Appliance to Veeam Backup & Replication KB ID: 4916 Product: Veeam Backup & Replication | 13.1 Published: 2026-09-08 Last Modified: 2026-09-08 Purpose By default, when a new Veeam Infrastructure Appliance is added to the Veeam Backup & Replication infrastructure, all available security updates are installed on that appliance automatically by the Veeam Updater running on it. The installation of updates can take a significant amount of time, during which the wizard used to add the appliance is blocked, and the appliance is rebooted automatically at the end of the process if a reboot is required. In environments where the appliance has no access to the Veeam software repositories, the update check cannot succeed, and the wizard is delayed until the check has exhausted its retries, which takes approximately three minutes by default. This article describes how to disable the automatic update check and installation for Veeam Infrastructure Appliance hosts that are being added to the Veeam Backup & Replication infrastructure. The setting described in this article is available in Veeam Backup & Replication 13.1.0.411 and later. Solution Security Impact of Disabling the Update Check When the automatic update check is disabled, security updates are not installed on Veeam Infrastructure Appliance hosts while they are being added to the infrastructure.
